Cusco - Manu Cloud Forest – Pillcopata Lodge

Overview

5:00 AM we will pick you up at your hotel in our private Minivan . We left the city of Cusco, our first stop will be (The Tombs), a pre-Inca site called Ninamarca , through the trip beautiful views of landscapes, then we will arrive at Paucartambo (the folkloric capital of Cusco) that shows the beautiful Spanish colonial architecture and an ancient stone bridge named Carlos Tercero, built in the seventeenth century, then we continue our journey to the Abra de Acjanaco at 3,600 masl (11,811 feet) there and we walk to see the dramatic change of the ecosystem and out of course if the clouds allow us, we will see the Amazon jungle of Manu as the starting point of the National Park. We travel along the road to Manu enjoying the cloud forest this landscape is simply amazing. There are many waterfalls on the way. That in the end will end in the Amazon River, we will go to the route of Manu to have lunch in the middle of nature, to see some unique species of mosses, lichens, orchids and birds in this habitat, we have possibilities to see quetzals, toucans, tanagers The rooster of the rock, trogons, tanagers, mammals such as the brown capuchin monkeys and the gray woolly monkeys.

And in the late afternoon we arrived at our hostel during the night in the Albergue Pillcopata.

Day 2
Parrot Clay Lick- Laguna Machuwasi.

We start early we board the minivan h to the fluvial port of Atalaya (600 m.a.s.l.) and 45 minutes by boat in the high Madre de Dios to the lick of parrots, with our telescope you can have a better view, then we have breakfast on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios river.

Later we go to the Machuwasi lagoon , we walk 40 minutes through the jungle, trying to find monkeys and alligators, once we reach the lagoon, we will take a rustic raft and enjoy the view of this beautiful lagoon, looking for prehistoric birds , orioles making nests, and more.

Then back to Pillcopata lodge.

Day 2

We start early we board the minivan h to the fluvial port of Atalaya (600 m.a.s.l.) and 45 minutes by boat in the high Madre de Dios to the lick of parrots, with our telescope you can have a better view, then we have breakfast on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios river.
